Global Kids Extended-day Program at The International School is hiring an Extended-day Program Coordinator. We are centrally located in South Waterfront in SW Portland.

  

 

Job Title: Global Kids Extended-day Program Coordinator

Department: Global Kids Extended-day Program

Reports to: Global Kids Extended-day Program Manager

Status: Non-exempt (hourly) with benefits

Compensation: Starting at $16 per hour, depending on experience

Benefits: Includes Medical, Dental, and Vision options plus paid time off and paid vacation.

Staff Discount: Staff are eligible for a tuition discount and an extended-day program discount for their dependents.

Hours per week: 30 hours per week on regular school weeks; additional hours may be available during no-school days and breaks.  This is a year-round position.

 

Work Schedule:

  • Regular Work Schedule: Typical hours are from 12 pm- 6:30 pm daily with 30 minute lunch break.   

    Schedule will be determined by the Program Manager. During peak work times, the employee may be required to work more hours as determined by Program Manager.

  • No-school days: Program is open on many no-school days. Hours on no-school days are typically 6-8 hours per day. These include individual days during the school year (like teacher in-service days) and full weeks during some school and summer breaks.

               

Job Duties Include:


• Collaborate with Program Manager, staff, parents, and 3rd Party Class providers to 

  provide a high quality program that supports students, families, and staff

• Communicate clearly and professionally through email, phone, text, and in person with all stakeholders

• Support Program Manager in the development of program offerings and logistics

• Collaborate with Program Manager and staff to register and enroll students in program including drop-in students

• Coordinate schedules, use of space, and changes with parents, staff, 3rd Party Class providers, and school staff  

• Create the Alternative Day schedules for Global Kids staff.

• Ensure smooth transitions, systems, and student expectations are in place

• Coordinate student showcases as determined and assigned by Program Manager

• Coordinate filing and record keeping as needed with Program Assistant

• Point person for the Global Kids Extended-day Program during Program Manager’s absence

• Utilize practices covered in Global Kids training and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports to address conflicts and    behavioral concerns

• Ability to work a varied schedule depending on program needs and activities

• Attend required trainings and professional development as required 

• Collaborate with Program Manager to facilitate staff meetings and professional development

• Carry out occasional additional duties as assigned by the Global Kids Program Manager

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines

• Commitment to excellent customer service and a positive attitude toward serving families

• Collaborative team player who can work together with the Program Manager and work independently

• Ability to identify and complete shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, orally and in writing in English, with a broad range of internal and     

  external constituents

• Advanced skills with Google Suite (Gmail, Google docs, Google sheets, Google forms, Google calendar)

• Ability to perform data entry efficiently and accurately

 

 

 

Required Qualifications:

• Experience working with children (ages three through twelve) in a school or similar group setting

• Administrative experience

• Communicate fluently in written and spoken English

• Experience working with people from diverse cultural, linguistic, and economic backgrounds

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1-3 years experience in an after school program setting, preferably in a school-based program

• Experience in volunteer management, administration, and staff supervision

• Comfortable in an international community with experience living and/or traveling overseas and studying other languages

• High School Degree and two years of college coursework

 

 

Training Requirements:

 • Align with the Oregon Office of Childcare and can be completed at the time of hire.
